The Ministry of Roads and Highways has given its official approval for the installation of traffic control signals in three major towns in the Ahafo and Bono Regions: Goaso, Mim, and Kenyasi. The project is estimated to cost GH¢9,463,605.

According to an official memorandum signed by the Director of Procurement, Francis P. K. Nudze, the approval has been granted to the Department of Urban Roads. The Ministry has authorized the Department to move forward with the required procurement processes for the project, provided that all activities strictly adhere to the provisions of the Public Procurement Act 2003, as amended.

The decision follows a successful vetting of the proposal submitted for the road safety initiative. Officials indicate that the three towns have witnessed a noticeable rise in vehicular traffic in recent years, necessitating improved traffic management systems.

The primary objective of the project is to modernize road infrastructure, manage the flow of vehicles more efficiently, and enhance overall road safety. Authorities believe the installation of the traffic lights will play a crucial role in reducing the incidence of road accidents in these growing urban centers.

This initiative is part of a broader national strategy by the government to upgrade road networks and safety measures across the country.
