A missile attack on a United Nations peacekeeping base in southern Lebanon has left two Ghanaian soldiers injured and caused significant damage to their camp, the Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 6, 2026, targeting the headquarters of the Ghanaian battalion serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). According to a military statement, the strike happened between 5:45 PM and 5:52 PM local time, destroying the base's Officers’ Mess facility.

The attack resulted in two Ghanaian soldiers sustaining critical injuries. A third officer was reported to be in a state of shock. The injured troops are currently receiving initial medical care at the base's medical facility. Officials state their condition is stable, and they are being prepared for evacuation to a more advanced UNIFIL referral hospital for further treatment.

Videos circulating online show the aftermath of the strike, with parts of the base engulfed in flames. In one video, a Ghanaian soldier is heard offering a prayer, while other footage captures personnel warning a senior officer about fires burning dangerously close to gas cylinders, raising the risk of a secondary explosion.
