Evangelist Nana Agradaa Released from Prison

Published: March 3, 2026

Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has been released from prison following a successful appeal that led to a significant reduction in her sentence.

The founder of Heavens Way International Ministry returned home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. A video shared on Facebook by her husband, Angel Asiamah, captured the moment she arrived at their residence, surrounded by family members, all dressed in white. In a post accompanying the video, Asiamah expressed his relief and joy, stating, "Thank God my wife is finally home."

Her release comes after a ruling by the Amasaman High Court on February 5, 2026. The court reviewed her appeal against a previous conviction and found the initial punishment to be excessively severe. The judge presiding over the case described the original sentence of 15 years imprisonment with hard labour as "harsh and excessive."

While upholding her conviction, the court exercised its discretion to revise the penalties. The initial sentence was reduced to a total of 12 months in prison on two of the counts. The court also imposed a fine of 200 penalty units, equivalent to GH₵2,400, and ordered her to refund GH₵1,000 to the two complainants in the case.

With the revised sentence backdated to commence from her original conviction date of July 3, 2025, Agradaa has now served the required period and has been released.

Agradaa was originally convicted by an Accra Circuit Court in July 2025 on charges including defrauding by false pretense and charlatanic advertisement. The charges stemmed from her promotion of a money-doubling scheme during televised services at her church in Weija. She had allegedly promised congregants miraculous financial returns on money they contributed, promises that were not fulfilled and led to complaints from participants.
