Nana Aba Anamoah Drops Impressive Rating on Mahama's Administration

Accra, Ghana – Renowned broadcast journalist Nana Aba Anamoah has offered a positive assessment of President John Dramani Mahama's performance one year into his current term, grading the administration between 75% and 80%.

In an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie on Saturday, February 21, 2026, Anamoah shared her views on the progress made since the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government took over in January 2025. Her evaluation focused heavily on economic management and a perceived change in the attitude of government officials.

Economic Stability a Key Highlight

A central point of Anamoah’s praise was the state of the economy. She contrasted the current situation with the turbulence of the previous administration's final years, crediting President Mahama and his finance minister for steering the country toward calmer waters.

"His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has stabilised the economy... I think his Finance Minister [Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson] is doing an excellent job," Anamoah stated. She noted a significant improvement compared to the preceding three to four years, which she described as "quite turbulent."

Lauds Shift in Ministerial Demeanour

Beyond economic indicators, Anamoah highlighted a shift in the conduct of public officials. She was critical of the previous government, describing its approach as marked by "too much arrogance," particularly in its interactions with the media and the public. She pointed to dismissive utterances and commentary from officials as examples of this attitude.

Anamoah suggested that President Mahama has learned from his first term (2012–2017), ensuring his current team avoids similar pitfalls. "The second coming of JM is a great one. He's learned his lessons because his first term also had bouts of arrogance—not with him, but with his appointees. But things are different now," she explained.

She specifically commended the proactive work of certain appointees, including Gender Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey for her regular hospital visits, and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for his accessibility to the public.

A Positive Trajectory

While acknowledging that the administration is still in its early stages, Anamoah expressed satisfaction with the direction the country is taking. She observed that current appointees appear more careful, hands-on, and present where they are needed.

"The trajectory looks good. It looks positive and I’m very happy with the work they’re doing so far," she concluded.

Anamoah’s commendation serves as a notable public endorsement from a respected media figure, setting a high standard for the government as it moves into its second year.
