BNI Summons Former Scholarship Secretariat Boss for Questioning in Fraud Probe

 Published: May 5, 2026

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) has launched an inquiry into alleged financial malfeasance at the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, summoning the institution’s former Registrar for questioning.

According to information gathered by GhanaWeb, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, who previously headed the Secretariat, was invited to appear before investigators on May 5, 2026. The invitation was formally channeled through the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.

Dr. Agyemang, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South Constituency, complied with the directive. He was questioned by BNI officials and subsequently released. Authorities have confirmed that the Speaker’s office was engaged to facilitate the former boss’s cooperation with the ongoing probe.

While the investigation is confirmed to be related to alleged scholarship fraud that occurred during the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the BNI has not yet made the specific details or the nature of the allegations public.

Efforts to reach spokespersons for Dr. Agyemang have been pending as of press time. The bureau is expected to provide further updates as the inquiry progresses.
