The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has closed its Premium Passport Application Centres in both Accra and Kumasi, a development that took effect from 20 February 2026, the Ministry has confirmed. ([Metro TV Online][1])
In an official statement released on 23 February 2026, the Ministry said the decision affects all services previously offered at the two premium facilities, which had been used by applicants seeking quicker processing of passport applications.
The announcement urges customers with pending applications at the now-closed centres to continue their passport processes at the Regional Passport Application Centres, where regular processing will be completed. The statement also advised those needing clarification or assistance to contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit at 0302-754-200.
Although no formal reason was given for the closures, the Ministry emphasised its commitment to maintaining public service quality and assured the public that alternative arrangements are in place to ensure continuity of passport services across the country.
The move is expected to shift traffic to regional offices and may affect applicants who relied on the premium service for expedited processing.
