Mahdi: Ghanaians Finally Have a President Who Respects Judicial Independence

Mahdi Gibril, National Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has commended Ghana’s Head of State for upholding the independence of the Judiciary, asserting that the country now has reason to be proud of its leadership.

Speaking on Monday, Mahdi highlighted that the President’s conduct demonstrates a commitment to the separation of powers — a cornerstone of democratic governance. He said that, unlike in previous years, the executive arm has refrained from interfering in judicial affairs, reinforcing public confidence in the justice system.

Mahdi further stressed that this stance not only strengthens constitutionalism but also projects Ghana as a stable democracy where the rule of law is respected. According to him, citizens can now take pride in a leader who allows the courts to operate independently without political intrusion.

The NDC official’s comments come amid ongoing national discussions about the role of institutions in safeguarding democratic norms and ensuring that no branch of government undermines another.
