The bursar of Ghanata Senior High School has been taken into police custody following allegations that she diverted food supplies meant for the school’s students’ welfare and nutrition.
According to Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku, credible complaints had been received in recent weeks suggesting that the bursar, identified as Lamisi Sarah, was unlawfully redirecting portions of the supplies from their intended purpose.
The alleged misconduct, described by the Minister as a serious breach of public trust and responsibility, prompted her office to alert the National Security apparatus in the constituency to investigate discreetly.
While in the constituency on Tuesday, February 17, the inquiry reportedly substantiated the claims, leading to Ms. Sarah’s arrest and subsequent hand-over to the Ghana Police Service to allow due legal process to continue.
The Minister stressed that the probe will be carried out to its conclusion and affirmed that accountability measures will be enforced to protect student welfare and restore confidence in public institutions.
